Lakota had been wandering around for awhile now. What made her hesitate in this general area was beyond her, but now that she had found traces of other elementals she couldn't leave. She had only met one or two in the last year, and she couldn't even remember their names. She knew that she was inside a pack's boundary and hadn't asked to enter, but she could care less. The thought of meeting others of her kind was irresistible. Much like the water was irresistible - despite the chill of winter. She was lounging in it now, floating along the surface with her head and back barely visible. She dove and watched as the fish darted away from her teeth. She snapped, missed, breathed in a gulp of deliciously cold water and dove farther down. There was quite a bit of enjoyment to be had in how the fish always seemed surprised to find a wolf hunting them at the bottom of their watery home.
A fish swam right past her muzzle and she snapped out towards it instinctively. A split second later and she felt the tail slapping her in the face in a futile attempt to escape her jaws. She surfaced and swam to shore, unable to swallow or kill the rather large fish underwater without it escaping. She dropped it, put a paw on it's tail before it could flop away, and bit the head to kill it quickly. She never really enjoyed taking a life, but her stomach was happy at the sight of food - it gave a low grumble of anticipation - so she always made sure to kill her prey as quickly as possible.
Halfway through her meal she heard a frog croak. Distracted by this out of place sound, Lakota bounded after the noise. Into the water she slid, as quietly as her excited body could go. The frog croaked again from a nearby rock and she slid farther down into the water and swam towards it slowly. She burst out onto the rock and the frog sailed over her head. Half in and half out of the water she watched it happily as the little thing swam as quick as it's legs could take it. The frog was quite a survivor to have lived this long into winter. Then again, it was very skinny. Why it wasn't nestled down into the mud at the bottom of the lake with its brethren was beyond her. Lakota laid her head down on her paws, hindquarters still in the water, and watched a spiderweb blowing in the breeze. It was empty, devoid of life. Not a spider nor a single bit of prey trapped within. Half of it was torn down, yet the other half held on with all its might to some dead plants growing around the rock. Winter was harsh, and she didn't like it much. The blankets of snow were always fun at first, but the lack of life wore on her always-happy personality. She lay on the rock for quite awhile, just thinking about the winter to come. Only the thought of blissful spring made winter bearable.

He wasn't a fool, Ivarise had scented the trespasser early on that day but he let it be as he expected some pack wolves to have intercepted the loner and tell her that these pack lands had rules that even wanderers needed to obey. Alas none did, the Alpha grimacing as he tracked down the wanderer himself by her scent and by Avaritia's aid. She wasn't happy as well he noted, screeching again and again as she circled the lake in the skies like the eagle that she was by form but not by soul. They shared that one small detail, the male tilting his head to give a sort of nod to the flying animal who simply swerved to the side with another raucous cry. The eagle was now intent on something, Avaritia focusing on the wolf that her other half was searching for. Ivarise could only move faster and follow the bird as he raced across the lakeside and closer to a figure who lay on one of the rocks. Each step brought him closer and closer until he could see her clearly and the mess she had left. Frowning at the half eaten fish, he could feel rage bubble up as this was food for the pack not for a mangy loner. Normally he would have been fine with a wanderer eating but here was precious food left behind like a discarded toy, Ivarise' eye twitching for a moment before he forced himself to calm. "Quite a waste is it not, loner?" The male calling out as he nudged the fish with one of his paws, stance and posture practically screaming alpha with his tail high and posture simply regal. His tone had been calm and cool but there was a warning in it as well; the male wasn't about to let any loner get by the rules even a fellow elemental. "I'd like to remind you which I believe that you know, these are pack lands." The male pausing for a moment before adding some more words. "Though you are a loner, we still expect common courtesy which is permission to hunt our precious food which has become more important with how winter has been and at least the knowledge of your presence." He had been stern but kind at once, his tone could have been harsher and crueler but that wasn't the way you dealt with wanderers. --- ooc: ugh crap post

Lakota lifted her head enough to watch as an eagle flew overhead. Something about it made her uncomfortable. The bird seemed to zero in on her and only her. She crawled fully onto the rock she was sprawled across rather ungracefully, eyes locked on the bird. Hurried paws fell on the shore and her ears swiveled to meet them. When the noise grew closer she turned to face the new wolf, who positively oozed alpha. Her tail dropped quickly, though didn't curl under her, and her head also fell to a more respectable position. Her blue eyes, however, remained locked with his. It wasn't a challenging stare though. She knew she had done wrong by trespassing, and was interested in his reaction.
Her ears twitched when he started to talk, startled by his voice. How long had it been since she had held any kind of conversation that wasn't one-sided? Feeling the need to explain herself, she floundered for words silently for a moment after he had finished. "I do apologize for fishing without asking, and more so for wasting. I don't usually waste food, I assure you, I just got--" distracted. She wanted to say it, but at the same time she didn't. It wouldn't make him happy to know she simply got distracted and wasted his food, but it was the only excuse she had. She gave a little bow of her head, apologizing silently for the half thought. "Words mean little though, I know. If you would like, I can help fish for you and your pack-mates. I'll take no more from your land." She shifted awkwardly, hoping he wouldn't take her words the wrong way. She didn't doubt that they could feed themselves, she was simply fishing (ha) for some way to ease over the situation.
She watched him carefully for a moment before her mind flicked back to the eagle from earlier. Her brain exploded with a million different questions about the bird and she couldn't help but voice one. "Is the eagle your... friend?" Her head had tilted to one side as she spoke, and she quickly righted herself with a small shake. The bird was not a normal bird - she was sure of it. Either they were working together somehow, or she had finally gone insane and was seeing conspiracies in simple coincidences.

Ivarise held her gaze with a calm and patient look, to act hostile and fiery would be foolish as this could be a potential pack subordinate before him. Recruiting aside, he wanted everything to be resolved as peacefully as possible as entering an argument or fighting would be a waste of resources and time. Then there was the season factor, winter being such a harsh time that could kill a perfectly healthy wolf. He grimaced inwardly at the thought, eyes still on the female's own in a reserved and curious stare.
His ears twitched as he listened to her apology, gaze obviously softening but that was all part of how manipulated others and how he loved doing so. The Alpha cocked his head when the female suddenly paused in her statement although it was no issue as he got the message clear as crystal. She had been distracted, a dangerous thing indeed as one could so easily kill a wolf too engrossed or diverted by a certain something. Ivarise simply smiled benevolently as she continued to explain herself and even offered to help, if only he had wolves like such in his pack.
"Your apology is accepted of course, we all get... engrossed in other things." The male nodded at her before continuing with his words, head high and proud. "You do not need to help catch fish for my pack; your apology is sufficient loner." With a gracious smile, Ivarise decided that he was probably making the wanderer tense up with how he had acted and with that he decided sitting down with ease up the tension. "I cannot keep calling you loner can I? What is your name?" His tone calm and curious but not overtly so, infinite patience faked for his own benefit and perhaps for the mystery before him.
Blinking in surprise at the sudden question about Avaritia, he simply cocked his head to the side before letting a high pitched whistle like sound escape from him. It would hurt the ear of the female but that was how he summoned his soul guide if he felt like acting as if the eagle was more of a pet than a soul guide as Ava knew when to come by simply understanding. "You could say that." Avaritia darted through the air, cold blue eyes glowering at the two before she landed beside the elemental male with a shriek.
With two pairs of blue eyes gazing at the loner, Ivarise idly wondered if she would panic or something.

Lakota was glad that the alpha seemed to have forgiven her, and even more glad that he declined her offer for her to fish for them. The life of servitude, even for a little while, was not one that she wished for. While she would have done it - she doesn't go back on her word - she could also see the little holes in the offer. Holes big enough for someone like him to catch onto and drag her down with. For example, she never did specify a time range for this servitude, now did she? Then the male started talking again, and all thoughts switched to what he had to say. She couldn't help but wag her tail a little as he sat, showing some easing of tension, and asked her name. She was incapable of masking her emotions, and it never crossed her mind that others might not have that problem. She took everything he said with a grain of sugar, instead of salt. Since she wanted everything to be okay, it was.
Everything except that noise that he made to call his eagle friend down with. That, was not okay. Her muzzle had twitched with a faint hint of a smile at his look of surprise at her sudden question, only to be taken by surprise herself at a wolf who could whistle. You could say that. While other wolves might try and read into those four words for days, Lakota gave up after only a few seconds. She could hardly expect him to relinquish all his secrets after having just met her, could she? Especially after having broken his rules.
She realized, then, that she had never given her name. Rather than continue to talk across the water, she dove into the lake and quickly swam to shore. She walked up a dozen or so feet away from the alpha, and more importantly, his friend. She still didn't like the bird, the way it watched her was unnerving. It was something to behold up close though, and she watched it for a moment, hesitating, before walking just a few paces closer. "My name's Lakota." She said, sitting and bowing her head in official greeting. "If I could be so bold as to ask your own...?" She had locked eyes with the alpha again on accident and she noticed the grays floating through his eyes. They reminded her of storms, those eyes, and she suddenly guessed his element - wind. Her own eyes were a deep, deep blue, much like the water at the bottom of the lake, and yet not. She wasn't sure what else they looked like, for she hadn't seen anything but lakes in her lifetime. Realizing that she was staring, she flicked her eyes away and stared over his shoulder at nothing. "You control the winds, do you not? I've never met a wind elemental, only other waters and an earth."
ooc: Wow, I rambled a lot. Sorry 'bout that.

Amusement twinkled in his eyes as he watched the loner; she was such an open book as her emotions flitted around her eyes and each expression she donned. The relief he saw as he refused her offer of servitude made him want to chuckle but that was certainly not the way of a respectable alpha. He wouldn't put it past the lords of the Dire and Dream wolves though as they were a barbaric lot who could not see the finery and discipline in harnessing the elements. Ivarise mused that this wolf was lucky to be an elemental as he was one, the male vowing to be a light in the dark.
When the female smiled faintly at his expression due to the minor surprise, irritation welled within him as no one mocked him for anything. But when it was her turn to be shocked due to his whistle, it made him follow her example and he grinned at her. He knew that wolves technically couldn't whistle but with proper manipulation of a bark and the wind, voila! A whistle. Iva remembered how he learned how to do that, his war torn past making him adapt and create a structured communication system for his troops. That was one of the reasons of why he had won and why he was the best choice to be alpha of any pack.
Watching her swim towards him made him wonder for a moment how it would be like to be a water elemental before snorting at the thought, wind was better as it could manipulate everything. He knew how to erode earth, destroy water to its basic elements and completely extinguish fire. Tricks of the trade he learned because he had to and he would have it no other way as knowledge was power whilst ignorance was not. He refocused on the loner once she introduced herself as Lakota and then blinked when she inquired about his name, the male slightly tilting his head to the side as if curious before straightening up and preparing to introduce himself.
"I am Ivarise Belveolve, Alpha of the Rodatia pack." His voice was proud and confident, head high but not overtly so before his tone softened and gentled as he continued. "Welcome to my lands Lakota, you are welcome to stay but alas for only three days as that is the law of this land." He smiled kindly afterwards, pointedly ignoring the eagle that stood near him and that gazed intently on the fish with predatory eyes. He blinked when she suddenly asked if he controlled the winds, was it not obvious? His scent was sharp and like a fresh breeze unlike the damp and watery scent that the female had, how curious his on fellow elementals could not distinguish by scent.
"Yes, I am a Wind elemental and would have it no other way... I've met my fair share of elementals of all four elements." He would have said more if it were not for the impatient shriek from Avaritia, the eagle hopping forward to look carefully at Lakota. Piercing eyes once more gazed intensely at the wolf, the Golden eagle turning its head to the side as if to see another perspective of the wolf before motioning at the fish with her head bobbing up and down.

As Ivarise introduced himself, Lakota got lost in her thoughts. She scoured her mind for a last name she had had at one point. Whenever she tried to remember anything past a month or so ago she caught faint wisps of memory and nothing more. Thinking back years to when she still used her full name was a harder task. Anything that had to do with water or surviving in general she could remember, or at least her muscles could. Things that had to do with other wolves, such as conversations, or names, she could not. It was still sad that she had forgotten her own name though. Sometimes she doubted if Lakota was actually her name.
She pulled out of her thoughts to hear Ivarise talking about the elements. Her head tilted to one side as she tried to figure out what she had missed. Giving up, she realized that her feet were kneading the ground impatiently. She stilled them with some effort, trying to focus on the alpha and the eagle which was staring at her. She stared back at the bird just as it nodded towards the fish. "Uhh... Do you want the fish? You can have it." It felt weird, talking to an eagle like she would another wolf. She wasn't entirely sure what the bird wanted either, and was worried she might be wrong in assuming it was asking permission to eat her catch. Why would it need permission anyway? Maybe it was mad at her. Could eagles get mad? Her head spun with questions.
"Sorry, but, how did you get an eagle to stay with you? Did it tell you where I was? I'm so confused..." She hadn't meant to say the last part out loud, but didn't bother to try and cover it up once it was out. She was confused, and it was pitiful when she thought about it. She stood and paced in front of the alpha, unable to stay sitting any longer and pretend to be normal and in control of her body. She had to get rid of the excess energy that had built up during their admittedly short conversation or she thought she might explode. Just the simple act of pacing was already calming her thoughts. She glanced at Ivarise, trying to see his reaction to her odd behavior. "How big is your pack?" Her subconscious was nosy, and she hoped to calm it by spurting out another question.

Ivarise sighed inwardly as he watched the female's eyes slightly glaze over, Lakota obviously thinking of something. It peeved him that she was not paying him any attention as he continued speaking, a slightly disapproving glint in his eye before it was gone in a second. He had to remain calm and civil, he had to keep his emotions within himself and that was what he did. Still, this female needed a few lessons in respect and manners as no wolf should ignore what an alpha had to say. Perhaps being a loner had muddled her mind but that didn't mean that she had to act like such, the Alpha sighing inwardly once more.
He noted how she kneaded the earth, impatience practically crackling from her and it tired him. Avaritia was just as annoyed more so with how the carcass of the fish was just left behind with the female no longer interested in it. It enraged her even more when her gestures had Lakota offer it to her, a furious screech escaping her as she hopped forward and glared. Ivarise simply snorted at that as Avaritia turned to hiss angrily, "This female is stupid. Why would I want leftovers? I am a proud eagle, I can hunt for myself!" He was extremely smug that only he could understand his soul guide, the bird shifting forward to lift the fish before jerking it at the female. The carcass was tossed in front of Lakota, Avaritia's meaning obvious.
The next question made him frown, he wasn't about to tell her about it since he hadn't even told anyone. He answered her politely but the frown on her face meant that such things shouldn't be asked, she was prying too much. "That is something I'd prefer to keep to myself, Lakota." Her confusion made him want to scowl but he couldn't do that, a calm and cool expression on his face instead. He watched her for a moment before she began pacing, disbelief filling the male as what was wrong with this female? Ivarise grew more and more bothered by the second but once more he kept it to himself, a faint glint of curiosity in his eyes that only thing he could offer.
Yet another question came from her, suspicion now roused as what if she was an enemy trying to gain information from him? His paranoia screamed at him but Ivarise refused to let it dictate his words, the Alpha shifting slightly where he sat before sitting straight. "I cannot say for myself if it is big, big is such a relative term." His tone was patient and confident yet his words were vague, silence reigning for a moment before he decided to continue the conversation though he would steer it away from all the prying.
"So how has winter been to loners?" Avaritia looked on disapprovingly, she didn't believe that this female was worthy of being in a conversation with an Alpha. She showed her irritation by squawking angrily, fluffing her feathers up and making herself look bigger.
